G.hn Wave 2 technology is an advanced version of the G.hn (Gigabit Home Networking) standard, which is designed to provide high-speed data transmission over existing home wiring, such as power lines, coaxial cables, and telephone lines. The G.hn standard is governed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and is aimed at delivering high-bandwidth, low-latency communication for home networking applications.

G.hn Wave 2 improves upon the original G.hn standard (Wave 1) with the following key features:

Higher Speeds: G.hn Wave 2 supports speeds of up to 2 Gbps, doubling the performance of Wave 1, which was capped at 1 Gbps. This is particularly useful for bandwidth-intensive applications like 4K video streaming, online gaming, and IoT devices.

Improved MIMO Support: Wave 2 introduces better Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) support, which allows for improved signal strength, increased range, and more reliable communication by using multiple data streams to improve performance, particularly over longer distances or in environments with interference.

Better Frequency Utilization: G.hn Wave 2 uses more of the available spectrum efficiently, resulting in higher throughput and reduced latency.

Backward Compatibility: G.hn Wave 2 is designed to be backward-compatible with Wave 1 devices, allowing users to upgrade incrementally without needing to replace all existing hardware.

QoS (Quality of Service) Improvements: The Wave 2 standard includes enhanced Quality of Service features, which ensure smoother handling of multiple streams of traffic, such as video, voice, and data, with minimal disruption or interference.

This technology is ideal for smart homes, IoT ecosystems, and high-speed home networking solutions where existing wiring can be used to avoid new cabling installations.
