Description

Indoor 250 to 2150 MHz DBS amplifier with automatic gain, adjustable output and selectable slope.

SITUATION

DBS signals need amplifi cation to a constant level for multiple distribution locations.

SOLUTION

Model TAMP 6 DIRECTV Amplifier provides an automatic gain controlled output that is user adjustable from -15 dBm to -24 dBm @ 2150 MHz. Slope is fi eld selected to either 12 dB or 8 dB.

At the minimum output setting, the LED indicators turn Green with an minimum input of -52 dBm. At the maximum output setting, the LED indicators turn Green with an minimum input of -44 dBm.

Why might I need a DIRECTV amplifier?

You may need a DIRECTV amplifier if you experience signal loss or poor signal quality due to long cable runs, multiple satellite receivers, or unfavorable weather conditions.

How does a DIRECTV amplifier work?

The amplifier boosts the signal strength of the DIRECTV satellite feed, compensating for signal loss caused by factors such as cable length and splitter usage. It ensures that the signal is strong and clear for optimal viewing.

Where should I install the DIRECTV amplifier?

Install the amplifier in line with the coaxial cable running from your satellite dish to your DIRECTV receiver. It's typically installed indoors, close to the receiver, and powered via a coaxial cable connection.

Pplication Notes

Model TAMP 6 DIRECTV Amplifiers are spaced at floor increments when used with model SDMST6XX taps per floor. Automatic gain simplifies the design and installation knowing that the amplifi er output is locked when with the signal level LED lights are Green.

The model SDMST6XX taps are used to couple signal from the trunk. The tap output is the tap value less than the trunk level at the point of insertion. Each tap adds insertion loss. An additional TAMP 6 amplifi er is added when the tap level is too low for a SWiM® multi switch.

A DIRECTV amplifier, also known as a signal booster or line amplifier, is a device used to enhance the strength and quality of the satellite signal received by your DIRECTV satellite dish. It's particularly useful in situations where the signal strength is weak due to factors like long cable runs or multiple receivers.

FAQ

Q: Can a DIRECTV amplifier improve signal quality during adverse weather conditions?

A: While a DIRECTV amplifier can help mitigate some signal loss during adverse weather conditions, such as rain or snow, it won't entirely eliminate signal degradation caused by severe weather events.

Q: Is a DIRECTV amplifier compatible with all DIRECTV setups?

A: DIRECTV amplifiers are generally compatible with most DIRECTV setups, but it's essential to ensure compatibility with your specific satellite dish model and receiver. Check the amplifier's specifications and consult with DIRECTV customer support if you're unsure.

Q: Can I install multiple DIRECTV amplifiers in my setup?

A: It's typically unnecessary and not recommended to install multiple amplifiers in a single DIRECTV setup. One amplifier placed strategically in the signal path should be sufficient to address signal issues.

Q: Do DIRECTV amplifiers require power?

A: Yes, most DIRECTV amplifiers require power to operate. They are usually powered through the coaxial cable connection from the DIRECTV receiver or a separate power inserter.
