Connect optical fibers

• Contamination or scratches: The fiber end face is not clean (such as dust, grease) or scratches can cause optical signal loss and reduce reception sensitivity.

• The bending radius is too small: If the bending radius of the optical fiber is less than 30mm, a slight bending loss may occur, which reduces the optical power.

• Connector misalignment: flanges or adapters are not aligned, causing insertion losses (typical values < 0.5dB).

Environmental and physical disturbances

• Temperature fluctuations: High temperature (> 85 ° C) causes the laser wavelength to drift, low temperature (< -40 ° C) increases the light detector dark current

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) : The power supply or nearby devices interfere with the receiving circuit, and the bit error rate (BER) increases.

• Mechanical vibration: External vibration causes instantaneous optical path deviation, causing sudden code error.

• Standard operation: Use optical fiber cleaning tools (such as dust-free paper or air blowers). Do not touch the optical interface with bare hands.

• Environmental control: Ensure that the ONU operating temperature is in the range of -40℃~85℃, away from strong electromagnetic sources.
